Ehud Barak: ‘The Obama Administration Is Backing The Security Of Israel’

Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak said on CNN last night that the Obama administration is “friendly to Israel.” Amid accusations from neoconservatives and right-wing politicians that Obama has distanced himself from Israel, Barak said President Obama backs Israel even as he takes an evenhanded approach with the Palestinians to try to broker peace. “I should tell you honestly that the Obama administration is backing the security of Israel — for which I’m responsible in our government — in a way that could hardly be compared to any previous administration,” Barak said, adding that Israel was the strongest country in the region. “We know that part of it is out of the generosity and the far-sightedness of American presidents including President Obama.”
